CONSTRUCTION: Greater Rochester International Airport

Above: A jet plane lands on runway 10/28 at the Greater Rochester International Airport (GRIA). On a cold, windy day in early February we climbed the runway’s farthest East approach light tower and harnessed-in. The afternoon couldn’t have turned out better. Every jet and commuter plane was lining-up for this East-West runway. Each time a jet passed overhead the tower shook noticeably above the regular vibration we were experiencing in the face of 30 to 40 MPH sustained winds—challenging photo shoot conditions.

FINISHED CONSTRUCTION: Medina Ethanol Plant

Above: I trekked a quarter mile through foot-and-a-half deep snow on a bitter December evening to capture this angle of the plant. This image became the lead photograph for a website slideshow I was developing that featured panoramic images. The Medina Ethanol Plant was the first ethanol plant to be constructed in the Northeastern United States.

CONSTRUCTION: Cable Installation for Historic Niagara Falls High Wire Walk

During six days in June, 2012, I was contracted to capture crews installing, securing and dismantling the 1800-foot span of custom manufactured wire rope for Nik Wallenda’s historic walk across Niagara Falls. This post contains excerpts from those photo shoots

Above: Nik’s custom manufactured wire rope stretches between the US and Canada at a final 65,000 pounds tension. I captured this image from a lift on the Canadian side less than two hours before Nik’s historic walk.
